(SIGNED) “Wordlayer” Journal Gift Set / “First Class” LP Bundle

$39.95

“Wordlayer” was my Twitter username made up when I began sharing about my son Ryan’s accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury on June 19, 2001. My world stopped as I knew it, and a new world began with my son, now a TBI survivor. Our family was thrown into the world of TBI, and our lives were forever divided into two halves – before and after.

I kept a journal through the first year and a half that even became a book, Heaven Hears, by Tyndale House Publishers.

And that’s the message in “Wordlayer” – after loss there is rebirth, reinvention, new life, new beauty. Whatever you struggle with, I hope you hear the message that our words are creative, you are a creator, too, and we aren’t powerless.

In 2003, the Boone family established non-profit Ryan’s Reach in Ryan’s name to help survivors of brain injury and their families.

Twitter User Name Becomes Anthem for Journey Through
Son’s Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

“Stone by stone and brick by brick
We lay our words to heal the sick
Heal the body, heal the mind, and heal the soul”

(Nashville, TN – February 16, 2024) Lindy Boone, the second of four daughters born to legendary entertainer and artist Pat Boone and Shirley (Foley) Boone, is releasing a new single, “Wordlayer” (listen here), she wrote and recorded – a gift from her daughter to write a song with a Nashville songwriter, Anne Buckle. Her three sisters, Cherry, Debby, and Laury, who in the ‘70s along with their mom and dad toured all over the United States and around the world as The Boone Family, including a tour of Japan with the Osmond Family, joined her at Starstruck Studios in Nashville November 13-14, 2023 to record the song.

Pat Boone was on-hand to share the happy and emotional reunion, lavishing in the beauty of his daughters’ voices and how well they harmonize together, undoubtedly thinking of his late wife, Shirley, who taught the girls their 4-part harmonies when the family was touring. “Wordlayer” will be released by Pat Boone’s Gold Label to all streaming services on March 8, 2024.

“Wordlayer” was Boone’s Twitter user name made up when she began sharing about her son’s accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury (TBI). On June 19, 2001, Ryan Corbin, grandson of Pat and Shirley Boone and son of Lindy Boone, stepped through a skylight and fell three stories onto a cement floor. He was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center in Westwood in extremely critical condition with multiple internal injuries, severe internal bleeding, and a serious brain injury. The doctors did not expect him to live. Lindy recalls the moment she was notified about the accident saying, “I was in Spain on vacation when I received the call from my sister, Debby. It was a horrendous 24-hour trip home.” The Boone family was thrown into the world of traumatic brain injury, and their lives were forever divided into two halves – before and after.

As Ryan lingered between life and death in intensive care, the Boones decided to take action and appeared on such shows as Larry King Live, CNN News, and NBC Today, sharing their faith and asking millions of TV viewers to pray for Ryan. That was the beginning of the roller coaster ride of TBI, and a journey through suffering Lindy Boone had never known. Says Boone, “It was the start of a decade of teaching me through suffering. I had never suffered in my life. I’d had a charmed childhood – a wonderful life, and then thrust into a limbo of ‘Is he going to be with us? Is he not ever coming back? Is he going to be in a coma forever?’”

Boone kept a journal through the first year and a half and was able to document and go back and write a book, Heaven Hears, released in 2013 by Tyndale House Publishers, receiving endorsements from Larry King, Roma Downey, Dr. Robert Schuller, pastor and author of The Purpose Driven Life Rick Warren, and many others.

Told that she needed a Twitter account she made up “Wordlayer” as her user name. Lindy explains, “I loved the idea of laying my words down creatively to walk us into the next phase of life. I had a strong belief by that time that words are very powerful, and we treat them very loosely sometimes. Then I never used my Twitter account.”

“One of the lessons through my journey was the idea that how you speak
really matters to the trajectory of the next phase of your life.”
– Lindy Boone

Since Ryan’s fall, Lindy has learned a lot about traumatic brain injury and has come to a new understanding of the faithfulness of God and the power of our words during times of deepest needs. In 2003, the Boone family established a non-profit in Ryan’s name, Ryan’s Reach, to help survivors of brain injury and their families, and has been providing funds for TBI survivors to receive therapy ever since. The charity has also opened two homes to provide care exclusively for brain injury survivors, and recently launched TBI Talk, a podcast for insights into brain injury recovery, offering another resource for those who have a brain injured loved one and who may want to hear stories of other families going through a similar journey.

In the 1970s, Cherry, Lindy, Debby, and Laury Boone, the daughters of Pat and Shirley (Foley) Boone (also the grand-daughters of country music pioneer and Grand Ole Opry star Red Foley), recorded pop covers and several Christian albums as The Boone Girls, including their Grammy Award-nominated First Class. Debby Boone went on to become a solo artist, hitting the top of the US charts with “You Light Up My Life,” has won three Grammys throughout her music career and been nominated 10 times.

Lindy Boone has worked in the fitness industry as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer for 25 years, and lives in Southern California with her husband of 38 years, attorney Mike Michaelis.
She has three adult children: Ryan, Jessica, and Tyler.

Shirley (Foley) Boone, daughter of country music pioneer and Grand Ole Opry star Red Foley, died from vasculitis at age 84 in January 2019.

VERSE 1
When your happy turns to tears
And you’re broken by your fears
It’s so tempting to declare that all is lost
You can speak into creation
And build a new foundation
Laying word upon word upon the cross

CHORUS
Spend some time with your creator
Are you grateful that He made ya?
Do you know that you’re a creator, too?
Your words have super powers
They can sweeten, they can sour
And you’re blessed to have the choice of what they’ll do
Oh, wordlayer

VERSE 2
Lay your words down with intention
Pain can motivate invention
Look at nature, how she cycles death to life
That’s our model life returns
Will it be better for your words?
Are they life? Are they love? Do they beautify?

CHORUS
Spend some time with your creator
Are you grateful that He made ya?
Do you know that you’re a creator, too?
Your words have super powers
They can sweeten, they can sour
And you’re blessed to have the choice of what they’ll do
Oh, wordlayer

BRIDGE
Stone by stone and brick by brick
We lay our words to heal the sick
Heal the body, heal the mind, and heal the soul
Now, they can work the other way
So please be careful what you say
Instead of walls build hospitals
We need each other so

CHORUS
Spend some time with your creator
Are you grateful that He made ya?
Do you know that you’re a creator, too?
Your words have super powers
They can sweeten, they can sour
And you’re blessed to have the choice of what they’ll do
Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh….wordlayer
